Muhammad or Jesus
Muhammad - a normal man
Muhammad was born of his father Abdullah and his mother Amina. No Muslim would claim that
Muhammad was born by a divine or a transcendental act. He was a normal man like all of the rest of
humanity. According to the Qur'an he had to ask Allah three times to forgive for his sins (Sura al-Ghafir
40:55; Muhammad 47:19 al-Fath 48:2)
al-Ghafir 40:55
|
Then have patience (O Muhammad). Lo! the promise of Allah is true. And ask forgiveness of thy
sin, and hymn the praise of thy Lord at fall of night and in the early hours.1
|
|
Maka bersabarlah kamu,
|
Muhammad 47:19
|
So know (O Muhammad) that there is no Allah save Allah, and ask forgiveness for thy sin and for
believing men and believing women. Allah knoweth (both) your place of turmoil and your place of
rest.
|
|
Maka ketahuilah,
|
al-Fath 48:2
|
That Allah may forgive thee of thy sin that which is past and that which is to come, and may
perfect His favour unto thee, and may guide thee on a right path,
|
|
Muhammad died and his bones are hoped to be still within his grave at Medina. According to
Islamic tradition, he is waiting for the day of Judgment in an intermediate state (barzakh). All
Muslims, every time they mention his name, should intercede: Allah may pray for him and grant him
peace! (Sura al-Ahzab 33:56). Muhammad is not yet saved. He needs the intermediary prayers of his followers.
al-Ahzab 33:56
|
Lo! Allah and His angels shower blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! Ask blessings on him
and salute him with a worthy salutation.
|
|
|
Jesus - a supernatural man
According to Christian and Islamic teaching Jesus was begotten by God's Word and Spirit and
born of the virgin Mary. He remained without sin throughout his entire life; this fact is confirmed
in the Qur'an and the Hadith several times.
The Qur'an also confirms that Jesus did not remain dead but lives with God today (Sura al-'Imran
3:55 ) and Sura an-Nisa 4:158).
al-'Imran
3:55
|
(And remember) when Allah said: O Jesus! Lo! I am gathering thee and causing thee to ascend unto
Me, and am cleansing thee of those who disbelieve and am setting those who follow thee above those
who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then unto Me ye will (all) return, and I shall judge
between you as to that wherein ye used to differ.
|
|
an-Nisa 4:158
|
But Allah took him up unto Himself. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise.
|
|
Tetapi (yang sebenarnya),
Allah telah mengangkat Isa kepada-Nya. Dan adalah Allah Maha Perkasa lagi Maha Bijaksana.
|
We know that he has reconciled us to God and intercedes for us as our high priest before God the
Father.
Jesus is alive but Muhammad is dead! This is the sum and decisive difference which Muslim can
comprehend from Qur'an if they seek the truth. Jesus is holy but Muhammad was a sinful man! Whoever
follows Jesus will live forever. Whoever follows Muhammad will die and enter the Judgment!
The revelation that Muhammad received
Muslims believe that the majority of verses of the Qur'an were revealed to Muhammad or engraved
on his soul by the angel Gabriel in flawless verbal inspiration or dictation.
However the so-called revelations of Muhammad could not have come from the angel Gabriel. God would
not send the same angel to Muhammad at Mecca 600 years after the birth and death of his only Son to
tell Muhammad that He, God, does not have a son and that His beloved Son was never crucified!
Contradictory revelations like these cannot originate from the Father of Jesus Christ. They come
from the same source as the Satanic Verses in Sura an-Najm 53:19-23 and the sermons to the jinns
(spirits) which we can find in Suras Nuh 71:16 and al-Ahqaf 46:29-30.
an-Najm 53:19-23
|
Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza
And Manat, the third, the other?
Are yours the males and His the females?
That indeed were an unfair division!
They are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers, for which Allah hath revealed no
warrant. They follow but a guess and that which (they) themselves desire. And now the guidance from
their Lord hath come unto them.
|
|
|
al-Ahqaf 46:29-30
|
And when We inclined toward thee (Muhammad) certain of the jinn, who wished to hear the Qur'an
and, when they were in its presence, said: Give ear! and, when it was finished, turned back to their
people, warning.
They said: O our people! Lo! we have heard a scripture which hath been revealed after Moses,
confirming that which was before it, guiding unto the truth and a right road.
|
|

Perhaps, Muhammad was not a medium but only thought the heard voices. He adopted certain Jewish
teachings that reject Jesus as the Son of God. He was also misled by a Christian sect that
believed in a trinity of father, mother and son. Ignorant of the true teachings of Christianity,
Muhammad rejected this unbiblical trinity as well as everything connected with the triune God. His
doctrine developed into a super-power that binds 20 percent of the world population in an
anti-Christian spirit and separates them from the salvation that Jesus Christ accomplished for them.
If we compare Muhammad and the Lord Jesus Christ in the light of the Gospel, we must confess that
Muhammad and the Qur'an are possessed by an anti-biblical, anti-Jewish, anti-Christian and
anti-Church spirit. But several times Muhammad testifies in the Qur'an that Jesus is the Word of God
Incarnate and a Spirit of Him (Sura Al 'Imran 3:39,45,64; an-Nisa 4:171; Sura Maryam 19:34; Sura
at-Tahrim 66:12 and Sura al-Anbiya 21:91).
al-'Imran 3:45
|
(And remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from
him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and
one of those brought near (unto Allah).
|
|
|
an-Nisa 4:171
|
O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah
save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He
conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not
"Three" - Cease! (it is) better for you! - Allah is only One Allah. Far is it removed from
His Transcendent Majesty that He should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that
is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender.

Wahai Ahli Kitab, janganlah

Maryam 19:34

Such was Jesus, son of Mary: (this is) a statement of the truth concerning which they doubt.

Itulah Isa putra Maryam, yang mengatakan perkataan yang benar, yang mereka berbantah-bantahan tentang kebenarannya.

at-Tahrim 66:12

And Mary, daughter of 'Imran, whose body was chaste, therefor We breathed therein something of
Our Spirit. And she put faith in the words of her Lord and His scriptures, and was of the obedient.

al-Anbiya 21:91

And she who was chaste, therefor We breathed into her (something) of Our Spirit and made her and
her son a token for (all) peoples.

|
In spite of this clever compromise we must have the courage to apply Galatians 1:8 to Islam.
Galatians 1:8
|
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to
you, let him be eternally condemned! (NIV)
|
beritakan kepadamu, terkutuklah dia.
|
Jesus Christ is the revelation of God's grace
After Jesus' revelation of grace, Muhammad re-created a religion of law which tries to
establish itself as a theocratic state. Christians, however, do not live under the law but in Christ
(Romans 6:14).
Romans 6:14
|
For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. (NIV)
|
|
Paul's struggle against the Jewish legalistic way of life is a model for our dealing with Islam.
Christians do not believe in a book or a law but in a person, the incarnate Son of God. Jesus is our
Gospel; the books of the Bible all point to him. The PERSON Jesus is the Bibles answer to Islam.
Jesus and Muhammad commanded different missionary movements
Jesus and Muhammad commanded world mission to their followers. Several times Allah gave the
order to the Muslims through their prophet: Fight against them until there will Muslims longer be a
temptation and religion (of Islam) will be reigning worldwide for Allah! (Sura al-Baqara 2:193; Sura
al-Anfal 8:39;Sura al-Tawba 9:29; Sura an-Nisa 4:74).
al-Baqara 2:193
|
And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah. But if they desist, then
let there be no hostility except against wrong-doers.
|
|
al-Anfal 8:39
|
And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is all for Allah. But if they cease,
then lo! Allah is Seer of what they do.
|
|
al-Tawba 9:29
|
Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the
Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the
Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.
|
tunduk.
|
an-Nisa
4:74
|
Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth
in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.
|

Allah commanded the unholy war that divides the world into a House of War (Dar al-Harb) and House
of Islam(Dar al-Islam). Primarily, the Islamic mission is not aimed at spiritual renewal of mankind,
but it tries to seize power wherever possible. The Kingdom of Allah is to be built on this earth now
using all possible means. Muhammad ordered a violent and murderous type of mission.
The Mission of Salvation, as Jesus commanded it, is based on his redemptive death and the outpouring
of the renewing power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:18).
Acts 2:18
|
Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will
prophesy. (NIV)
|
|
|
Jesus did not train his followers for bloody combat. He preferred to die for his enemies on the
cross instead of killing them.
However, Muhammad commanded and participated in all types of robbery together with his followers,
and he asked them to murder his enemies secretly. He commanded the mass murder of 600 to 800 Jews in
Medina (ibn Hisham) His model as a war-lord continues to inspire his followers until today.
Jesus strictly forbade his followers to fight with the sword (Matthew 26:52; John 18:11).
Matthew 26:52
|
"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword
will die by the sword.
|
|
|
John 18:11
|
Jesus commanded Peter, "Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given
me?"
|
|
Kata Yesus kepada Petrus: "Sarungkan pedangmu itu;
|
He commanded them follow him in self-denial and love by word and deed, and to pray
For their enemies just as he did .Our Lord is meek and humble (Matthew 11: 29 ff)
He will inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5).
Matthew 11:29
|
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find
rest for your souls.
|

Matthew 5:5

|
Berbahagialah mereka yang lemah-lembut, karena mereka akan
memiliki bumi.

Summary
The topic of Muhammad or Jesus that we have dealt with are not connected primarily with the
teachings of Islam and Christianity but with Muhammad and Jesus themselves. Islam is the
personification of Muhammad and his teachings (Qur'an and Sunna).
Christian are called to unite to the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ in His spiritual body
and to represent humbly his holy love on earth.
Romans
12:5
|
so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. (NIV)
|
|
We know that Jesus lives and that he triumphs in Islamic countries through his followers. He
himself is the Gospel and the complete answer to Islam.
Muhammad will one day worship Jesus although he once sarcastically said: if the Merciful had a son ,
I would be the first of his worshippers (Sura az-Zukhruf 43:81).
az-Zukhruf 43:81
|
Say (O Muhammad): If the Beneficent One hath a son, then, I shall be first among the worshippers.
(But there is no son).
|
|
Katakanlah, jika benar Tuhan
Yang Maha Pemurah mempunyai anak, maka akulah (Muhammad) orang yang mula-mula memuliakan (anak
itu).
|
Muhammad will have to bow his knees and confess the answer of the Gospel to Islam:
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to
the glory of God the Father
